Mark and the salty sky

Mark was having his first holiday in the country. In the morning he was having fun, but when bedtime came Mark could not go to sleep. He felt his way along to the curtain. He opened it. There were no street lights and no lights from cars going by. Mark called out to his dad and asked him to please turn on the light. But his dad had a better idea. He said to Mark, “Come with me and I will show you something special.” Mark did not mind going in the dark with his dad. It was quite exciting. When they got past the passage and the bush. His dad said, “Look up to the sky.” What did he see? Stars! Not bits of stars. There were hundreds and thousands and millions and billions and trillions of stars. “Gosh,”said Mark. “It looks like someone sprinkled salt on to the sky.” Mark went off to sleep thinking about the starry sky. When Mark went to eat has breakfast he asked his dad if he could have are very dark blue plate. So his dad gave him the plate. Then Mark sprinkled the salt on the plate. His dad smiled. “Ahh!’’ he said, “I see!”
