Serena and Moala are redesigning the courtyard

We are redesigning our courtyard.

Our first idea is to put some fake mushroom chairs in our garden. We chose it so we can sit and eat our lunch.We need them so we can not sit on the deck. We found Mushroom chairs at Bed Bath and Beyond for $130 each.


Our second idea is to put log seats in the corner of the courtyard. We like them because it is just better for our
yard because more people can sit on them.We found one from the country log chairs it is $60.00 each.

Our third idea is to put up a basketball hoop. We chose it so we can play with it every day if we are bored.We need it because there are not enough basketball hoops in our school.We found it in the basketball hoops they are 212.00 each.

Land and Sea

There are massive rocks that look like mountains and they look like volcanos too. There are dark green trees and they look like a little forest. The grass is really light green and would be lovely to sit on. There is white sand and it would be beautiful to walk on. The blue ocean has little islands in them and I would like to live there.

Experimenting with popcorn

On Wednesday we made yoghurt popcorn and the recipe said that we had to put the popcorn seeds into the popcorn machine . Then it said that we had to put only 1/3cup of maple syrup and 1 cup of brown sugar and put it into the pot with one cup of plain yoghurt. Britney mixed it all together. When the popcorn was popping everywhere. We had to stop it so we could put it in the bowl. Then we poured the mixture into the bowl and mixed it. After that I mixed it and then I put the popcorn into the cups. I tasted it and it was so yucky and sickly.
On Thursday we made chicken stock popcorn. We put the popcorn seed inside the popcorn maker. It sounded like a lawn mower mowing the grass. Then we put the popcorn in the bowl before Htawara put some chicken stock in the bowl. We washed our hands with the sanitisor. Doris put her hands in the bowl and mix it all together. We had some popcorn to eat it was yummy. It was my favourite popcorn.

Powhiri

Today we had a special assembly for special visitors who came from the Wake Forest University in United States. We all stood up and then Shanaia and Awhina welcomed them in. Then Feke did the karakia. After that the Pounamu sang a welcome song for them. Tevita stood up and did the welcome speech to them it was so long when he was a little bit half way the Pounamu group did a another song. Then there were two ladies who stood up and did a little thankyou speech and then another lady was holding are big black plastic bag and inside was are big white star. They gave it to us as a taonga and then they sang their anthem song. It was are cool song and when they were finished Mr Burt spoke in Maori and in English to our visitors then Mr Burt said, “ We do hugs.” When they were finished the Pounamu group sang are good bye song as they leave the hall.

popcorn tasting

Today we tasted two kinds of popcorn. The first one was candy coated popcorn. It was little bit yucky but my favourite one was the yellow one because it tasted like banana and lollies.
Next we tasted the caramel popcorn and it was yummy. It tasted like toffee and smelt like Tongan oil. My favorite popcorn was caramel because it was so sweet and slippery and like toffee too.

Tornado

On Tuesday the 3rd of May there was a tornado at Albany. It was so shocking for some people.Albany shopping center was partly ruined because of the Tornado. One trampoline was flying in the air and landed on the roof of the house. Cars were rolling everywhere and some buildings had their roofs taken off. Trees was broken and were everywhere. If there was a tornado at Auckland I will be shock. Hope that the North shore people will be alright. A BIG LOVE FROM MOALA
